Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. sugar plus 1 Tbsp.
  • 1 scant c. shortening
  • 1 c. hot water
  • 2 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 1 c. warm water (not hot)
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 c. plain flour with 1 tsp. salt mixed in

Method

  1. In a saucepan combine sugar.

  2. Melt over medium heat the shortening and 1 cup hot water.

  3. Set aside to cool.

  4. Dissolve yeast in small bowl with 1 cup warm water (not hot).

  5. Beat eggs in a large bowl.

  6. Sift flour with salt mixed in.
