Ingredients

  • 1/3 c. cornmeal (uncooked)
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 2 pkg. yeast, softened in 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 4 to 5 1/2 c. flour

Method

  1. Cook the first 5 ingredients until thick; cool until lukewarm. Add the eggs, 2 teaspoons sugar and the softened yeast.

  2. Mix well, then add the flour.

  3. Knead well; place in greased bowl.

  4. Let rise for 1 hour or more.

  5. Punch down; roll out.

  6. Cut with biscuit cutter.

  7. Let rise until doubled in a greased pan.

  8. Bake at 365° for 15 minutes.
