Ingredients

  • 1 medium very ripe avocado, seeded, peeled and cut up
  • 1 small tomato, peeled, seeded and chopped (1 1/3 c.)
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped onion
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon or lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
  • dash of bottled hot pepper sauce or ground red pepper
  • 1/2 c. crushed corn chips
  • 1/3 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. finely chopped onions
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef or ground turkey
  • 4 tomato slices
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 hamburger buns, split and toasted on the grill

Method

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, mash avocado.

  2. Stir in tomato, the 1 tablespoon onion, lemon juice, salt, garlic powder and hot pepper sauce.

  3. Cover and chill in the refrigerator until serving time. Meanwhile, in another medium mixing bowl, combine crushed corn chips, milk, 2 tablespoons onion and Worcestershire sauce.

  4. Add meat; mix well.

  5. Shape the meat mixture into four 3/4-inch thick patties.

  6. Arrange patties on the cooking grill 11 to 12 minutes or until well done, turning once halfway through grilling time. Serve patties topped with tomato slices and guacamole on lettuce-lined buns.

  7. Makes 4 servings.
