Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg (whole)
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 1 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1/2 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 c. marshmallows (small)
  • 1 c. light brown sugar

Method

  1. Cream shortening and sugar.

  2. Beat in whole egg and 2 egg yolks.

  3. Sift flour, baking powder and salt.

  4. Combine 2 mixtures; blend.

  5. Grease and flour 13 x 9-inch pan.

  6. Sprinkle nuts, chocolate pieces and marshmallows over batter.

  7. Beat 2 egg whites very stiff.

  8. Fold in brown sugar.

  9. Spread over cake.

  10. Bake 30 to 40 minutes.
