A home-kitchen version of rolls, written step by step so it's easy to follow that's worth the oven time.

Ingredients

  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 yeast cake, dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 1/2 c. sifted flour

Method

  1. Scald milk with butter.

  2. Pour into large mixing bowl.

  3. Add sugar and salt.

  4. Let cool.

  5. Add eggs (unbeaten), yeast cake and 1 1/2 cups flour.

  6. Mix well for two minutes.

  7. Stir remaining flour. Put in icebox and let rise overnight.

  8. Make rolls at least two hours before cooking.
