Whole Wheat Light Rolls

A home-kitchen version of whole wheat light rolls, written step by step so it's easy to follow that comes together with everyday ingredients.

Ingredients
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 3/4 c. scalded milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 3 to 4 c. whole wheat flour
- 3 c. white flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
Method
Combine milk, sugar, salt and shortening.
Cool to lukewarm, then add eggs.
Add 1 cup of each of the flours and mix well. Soften yeast in warm water and add to first mixture.
Stir in remaining flour and put in greased bowl in refrigerator.
Cover with greased wax paper.
Two hours before baking remove from refrigerator and knead lightly.
Shape into rolls and let raise. Bake at 425° about 10 minutes or until brown.
