Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm milk
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 4 c. all-purpose flour

Method

  1. Combine yeast and 1/2 cup warm milk in 2-cup liquid measuring cup; let stand 5 minutes.

  2. Combine yeast mixture and remaining milk and next 4 ingredients in large mixing bowl.

  3. Gradually add 1 cup flour, stirring until smooth.

  4. Gradually stir in enough remaining flour to make soft dough.

  5. Place in well-greased bowl, turning to grease top.

  6. Cover and let stand in warm place free from drafts for 15 minutes.

  7. Punch dough down; cover and let stand in warm place free from drafts for 15 minutes.

  8. Turn dough out onto floured surface; knead 3 or 4 times.

  9. Divide dough into 24 pieces; shape into balls.

  10. Place in 2 greased 9-inch square pans. Cover and let stand in warm place free from drafts for 15 minutes. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

  11. Makes 2 dozen.
