Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 3/4 c. white sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp. hot water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. oatmeal
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 pkg. Toll House chocolate chips or butterscotch chips

Method

  1. Mix together

  2. shortening,

  3. brown sugar and white sugar. Sift and add

  4. flour,

  5. soda, eggs, hot water, vanilla and salt. Add oatmeal,

  6. nuts,

  7. chocolate chips

  8. or

  9. butterscotch chips. Drop by teaspoonful on

  10. cookie

  11. sheet.

  12. Bake at 350° for 10 to 15 minutes.
