Ingredients

  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. Crisco
  • 3/4 c. very cold milk

Method

  1. Adjust oven rack to lowest position.

  2. Preheat oven to 350°. In food processor with steel blade, combine flour, salt and Crisco; pulse about 6 seconds, until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Add milk and process until dough forms a ball.

  4. Continue processing 2 minutes.

  5. On floured surface, roll dough into rectangle 1/4-inch thick.

  6. Fold dough in half, pressing lightly. With a 1 1/2-inch biscuit cutter, cut out dough and place on cookie sheet.

  7. Re-roll scraps and repeat, cutting more biscuits. Prick each biscuit with a fork.

  8. Bake 30 to 35 minutes, until pale golden.

  9. Turn off oven, leave biscuits in oven for 35 minutes. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.

  10. Contains 100 calories each.
