Fresh Strawberry Pie

A home-kitchen version of fresh strawberry pie, written step by step so it's easy to follow that's worth the oven time.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1/4 c. cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 (3 oz.) pkg. strawberry gelatin
- red food coloring (as desired)
- unsweetened strawberries
Method
Combine sugar, water, cornstarch and salt; cook until clear. Remove from heat; add red food coloring and gelatin.
Stir well and allow to cool.
Put strawberries in prebaked pie shell.
Pour sauce over berries and chill top with whipped cream or Cool Whip; serve.
