A home-kitchen version of pie crust, written step by step so it's easy to follow that's worth the oven time.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. shortening
  • 2 Tbsp. butter, softened
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. cold water

Method

  1. Cut shortening and butter into flour and salt mixture.

  2. Slowly add water while mixing with a fork (depending on weather, slightly more or less water can be used).

  3. Form into ball.

  4. Cut in half for 2 crusts.

  5. Roll out, using only a little flour.

  6. For baked pie shells: prick with fork and bake 8 minutes at 475°.
