Cornstarch Icing

A home-kitchen version of cornstarch icing, written step by step so it's easy to follow that's worth the oven time.
Ingredients
- 1 c. water
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 1 c. granulated sugar
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
Method
Mix water and cornstarch together and cook until thick; set aside to cool.
Cream butter, sugar and vanilla together; add to cooled cornstarch mixture.
Beat with electric mixer until it looks like whipped cream.
This will frost a 2 layer (9-inch) cake.
